ABSTRACT
This paper analyses the technical efficiency of the hotels of Luanda, Angola with a two stage procedure. In the first stage, the data envelopment analysis (DEA) is adopted to seek out the best organizations that are peers in order to improve the performance of the least performing hotels in the sample. We rank the hotels according to their total productivity for the period 2000-2006. In a second stage the Simar and Wilson (2007) bootstrapped procedure is adopted to estimate the efficiency drivers. Economic implications arising from the study are considered.
