The scientific research that takes place in the ISEG research centres is an important element of the scientific support for this programme, with emphasis on the fields of Economics (REM, UECE) and Applied Mathematics (REM, CEMAPRE). It is REM that hosts the PhD students.

The PhD in Economics aims to provide an education which prepares PhD graduates for professional work that demands a higher degree of technical and scientific expertise, preparing them for international careers in Economics.
